Das ALDEBARAN Team auf Hawaii - Auf den Spuren fließender Lava
Glühende Lava und glasklares Wasser sind die Highlights auf dem aktuellen Dreh der ALDEBARAN Filmcrew auf Hawaii. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Vulcano Nationalpark hat das Team die Möglichkeit Filmaufnahmen von fließender Lava von einem der vier aktiven Seitenarme des Vulkanes PuúÒo im Süden von "Big Island" zu machen.

Sehr beschwerlich ist der Aufstieg zu den ca. 300 Metern hoch gelegenen aktiven Lavafeldern. Wir fahren mit dem Wagen die Kraterstraße vom Nationalparkhaus bis zu der Stelle, an der sie im Jahr 2000 von einem Lava Strom unterbrochen wurde. Dort geben uns die freundlichen Ranger vom Nationalparkservice die letzten Hinweise, wie wir den Weg hinauf zu den Lavafeldern am besten schaffen.

Absolut festes Schuhwerk, feste Kleidung, reichlich Wasser und Handschuhe sind nötig, um sich an den steileren Strecken auf den teils messerscharfen Lavakanten festhalten zu können. Zunächst führt der insgesamt sieben Kilometer lange Weg über endlose schwarze, in der Sonne glitzerne Lava-Formationen. Unter den Schuhen knistert die junge, poröse Lava. Wir müssen aufpassen, da viele der Lava Schollen locker übereinanderliegen und abbrechen können.

Am Fuße des Anhanges sind die Lava Felder bis zu vier Meter hoch. In der Dämmerung sehen wir am Berghang bereits die rot leuchtenden Lava Felder. Jeder Tritt ist mühsam mit der 20 Kilo schweren Ausrüstung, die wir in großen Rucksäcken möglichst stoßfest verpackt haben.
Im Gegensatz zu deutschen oder europäischen Nationalparks, in denen der Zutritt an vielen Stellen verboten ist, darf der Volkano Nationalpark überall betreten werden.
Die Nationalpark Ranger wollen, dass die Besucher Freude am Nationalpark haben und sich nicht ausgesperrt fühlen. Sie geben Tips und die Besucher respektieren auch die Warnhinweise, beispielsweise die Vulkandämpfe nicht einzuatmen und ausreichend Abstand zu den aktiven Lava Feldern zu halten.
Alles geschieht auf eigenes Risiko. Die Gegend ist so verlassen, daß nicht einmal eine Handyverbindung funktioniert.
Freiwillig machen nur ganz wenige diese Gewalttour, obwohl sich tagtäglich tausende Besucher an der Stelle versammeln, wo im November 2000 die Lava zuletzt ins Meer geflossen ist.
Zwischendurch legen wir immer wieder eine Pause ein und peilen den besten Weg zur glühenden Lava. Die kalte Lava knistert unentwegt unter den Schuhen. Sie ist so neu, daß noch nie zuvor ein Mensch sie je betreten hat. Wie ein am Berghang ausgekippter schwarzer Brei schimmert sie in der untergehenden Sonne. Nach knapp zwei Stunden Fußmarsch trägt der Wind uns die ersten Rauchwolken in die Nase. Wir sind nur noch wenige Meter von den glühenden Lava Feldern entfernt.
Als wir näher kommen, sehen wir eine fußballfeld-große Fläche auf der es glüht und brodelt. An den Rändern brennt Buschwerk. Der Wind facht das Feuer immer wieder an. Der Qualm beißt in den Augen. Die Hitze ist fast unerträglich. Wir deponieren unsere Ausrüstung in sicherer Entfernung von der Lava. Inzwischen ist es finstere Nacht.
Wir suchen uns einen geeigneten Standort für die Kamera, nicht zu weit entfernt um die hellrot aus der Erde quellende Lava zu filmen. Drei Stunden Aufnahmen gelingen uns, bevor wir uns am frühen morgen an den Abstieg wagen, zurück zum inzwischen verlassenen Nationalparkhaus um die restlichen 20 Meilen wieder in unsere Basis zurückzufahren.
Die Filmaufnahmen werden in dem Unterwassermusikfilm verwendet, an dem wir seit drei Jahren arbeiten. Sie sollen die Gewalt und die Schönheit der Elemente verdeutlichen und das Erlebnis der Unterwasserreise ergänzen. Lava-Ströme aus dem Inneren der Erde, am abgelegensten Teil der Welt.
